Pastoral interns; I am experienced in working with interns as a former Internship supervisor and I am passionate about walking beside interns and first call pastors as you lean into what God is calling you to do and to be.
My Story
I grew up in the Christian faith – Lutheran - with a strong church background and am blessed to have always had God in my life. But that doesn’t mean that there have not been challenges. My father died of cancer when I was 17 –and so grief became a part of my story. After college, my story took an unexpected turn. I was late for work and tried to catch a bus – not realizing that the light had turned red. I was hit by a car and ended up in a coma – with a head and leg injury. That I not only survived but healed is a miracle for which I will always be grateful. Since then, my journey includes marrying and raising two boys, and attending seminary. While at seminary, I participated in a spiritual direction group (I didn’t know that was what it was at the time) and found it to be profoundly meaningful. As a pastor, I know that kind of mutual support and spiritual growth is crucial. I have served as a pastor for the last 25 + years. Currently I am the pastor of Faith-Lilac Way in Robbinsdale, MN. In that role, I have served as an internship supervisor and companion for 15 Luther seminary interns. And then God nudged me to explore Spiritual direction for myself and then, after more nudging, as a Spiritual director/companion for others.
I love stories and would be honored to listen to your story and hear how you and God are doing. Do you yearn to grow deeper in faith and/or in connection with God? Or are you frustrated at the place you find yourself -- perhaps it is in grief or in frustration or in anger…or something else? I don’t have answers for you – but I do have a good ear and have learned the value of prayer. Or perhaps you are wondering about faith practices? I can also help you explore the many forms that prayer and faith practices can take.
